| Weddings Abound... | Posted: 2008-08-04 14:58:00 |
So, this weekend marks the last of 4 weddings in a row. I've had a fun time at them all, and this one should be no exception :D I'm looking forward to seeing some people I haven't seen in a while and watching 2 of my best friends get married to each other. It's ganna be a good time :D
Just a little update on my Grandma: her surgery went very well. It didn't take as long as it was supposed to and the cancer isn't in the lymph nodes. She was home the day after the surgery, which was really cool :D I haven't seen her since she has been home, but she is doing well. So, that's good too :D On a slightly related note, I have an idea for a new tattoo, as a tribute to my grandpa (and [unfortunately] those to follow him). That's about it for now... Peace! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Heya | Posted: 2008-07-17 11:19:39 |
Sorry I haven't written in a while, I've been pretty busy. I just gatta say Woohoo!!! Diablo 3 was announced :D It's been a long time waiting, but I'm excited for it :D I started playing Diablo 2 again in anticipation of D3. Carrying on... Things have been going pretty good. Working out at Stratford this week, and I actually haven't been doing a whole lot and getting paid $16/hr to do it :D Should be a pretty nice paycheck.
Some bad news, my grandma found out she has Breast Cancer last week. She is having a lumpectomy on July 31st. This is also the grandma who just lost her husband (my grandpa that I wrote about a while ago), so it's hitting hard for a lot of my family. So that kinda sucks... But other than that, things are good. I am going to River Falls tomorrow morning to usher for a friends wedding on Saturday. Johanna is coming to the wedding too, so I'm really looking forward to seeing her again :D This wedding kicks off the month straight of weddings I have... It'll fly by
I'm looking forward to the end of summer and actually having time to do stuff. The end of this summer is ganna suck, let me just tell you :P Lots of work, not so great pay, and a pain in my back :( Oh well, life goes on... | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| 2 years goes by so fast | Posted: 2008-07-03 07:12:48 |
Well, today I am writing you from my lovely girlfriends house. I am up at her house for the 4th because the 5th is our 2 year anniversary! I can't believe it's been 2 years already! As gifts, we decided that we were going to give each other rings, which I think is really cool. We didn't wanna wait until the 5th to show them to eachother, so we had a show and tell session yesterday when she got home from work. They are awesome :D
Other than that, things have been going good. I got my second shot in my back on Tuesday morning, and hopefully this one takes care of the rest of my problems *crosses fingers* Well, that's all for now methinks. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Yo! | Posted: 2008-06-26 11:23:37 |
So, with that nice semi-dark post looming on my front page, I thought I would put some happier news up here :D As of about 5 minutes ago, I have reopened Star Trek on Fallenscribe for all you Trekkies out there :P I plan on keeping up with the news a bit better, and I am looking for help to do so. If someone wants to help me, just let me know! Also, I will be redoing the layout sometime later, as I really don't like what is there now... | Posted by: Fallen 2 Comments |
| How much things mean | Posted: 2008-06-23 12:06:29 |
I don't think people realize how much they take for granted and how much they love someone until they are gone. Recently, if you remember, I lost my Grandpa. Lately, I have been thinking about him quite often, and I realize how much he meant to me and how much I truly do miss him. His jokes, his laugh, his sense of humor, his outlook on life, his determination, will to live, and more. I only wish that I can be even half the man that he was.
I was watching Gladiator the other day, and I actually started crying when Russel Crowe died, because it brought back memories of the funeral and the American Legion and VFW salutes to him. I usually am not that way, but it just goes to show how much I actually miss him.
Not quite the same thing, but Johanna and I haven't seen each other for over a week, and we still have 2 to go before we can see each other again. It's very hard to go from seeing each other every day to seeing each other every 3rd weekend. You don't really appreciate the time you have together until you can't be together anymore. One of my friends is going through this as well, so we are kinda keeping each other company through the summer ;) Shout out to Megan G. ;)
So, the storale of the morey is (yes, that was on purpose) to cherish every moment with those you love and those you consider your friends. You never know when those moments will cease to exist and fade into memories. | Posted by: Fallen 1 Comment |
| Good weekend | Posted: 2008-06-16 11:20:51 |
This last weekend was pretty awesome. We had AWESOME seats at the Brewers game on Friday (15 rows up from 1st base). They got their asses kicked, but it was a great time all the same. Johanna and I had a blast, especially her, because it was her first game in Miller Park. Friday night did have a down though; on the way to get a midnight snack, we got in a little fender bender. It doesn't look too bad, but it was an accident nonetheless. Kinda sucked :P
Saturday was fun, the wedding was great. I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen in a long time, and we had a blast. It was a good weekend for a wedding, too. Sunday was good, got a good idea of what to get Johanna for our 2 year anniversary, so I would count it as a good day :P Other than that, nothing much is new. This week will be the week from hell, as we are in Marathon doing network updates. I probably won't be posting much, because I will be working hard and sleeping very little. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| No more work this week | Posted: 2008-06-10 13:46:51 |
So, here's some fun news... I don't have to work the rest of the week. I was sposed to work tomorrow, but with nothing really that I can do (in terms of lifting and stuff that has gone on this week). So, I have 3 days off (1 planned and 2 unplanned) this week... not exactly what I wanted, but oh well. At least I worked most of last week... And next week will make up for it with working at Marathon. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Another day, another backache | Posted: 2008-06-10 11:33:25 |
So, today my back is pretty sore because yesterday I overstepped my limits a bit :( I was crawling around on the floor and playing with network jacks and stuff, trying to move out a room as fast as possible. That was a bad choice. I was very sore this morning when I woke up. I slept good, but I had a hard time getting mobile after that. Woops :P
I think tomorrow is the last day of work for this week. We have a week of hell coming up next week, so I won't be on to blog much. We are doing a major network update at Marathon, means long hours and little food :P But, the good part is that Johanna is coming on Thursday night so that we can leave for Milwaukee on Friday. Our friends are getting married Saturday, and we are going to catch a Brewers game on Friday night :D I'm glad I get to see her again so soon. But, after this weekend it's another 3 weeks before I will see her again :( But, life goes on... | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Sweet! | Posted: 2008-06-05 11:44:19 |
So, this weekend will be the first time in 3 weeks that I get to see Johanna. But, the news gets better (at least for me ;) ). I don't have to work tomorrow, so I get to go up tonight and spend some extra time with her :D She has to work tomorrow which is OK, but I still get to spend some extra time with her, which I am super excited about. We are probably going to a movie tomorrow night, Saturday is her cousin's grad. party, followed by a demolition derby and party. Should be a good time :D

So, now I have a registration script set up, because of those damn spam bots. You now need to register to post comments on news items. You can read them, but you cannot post unless you register. Sorry to inconvenience those of you who were actually posting nicely, but I was sick of the bots spamming me | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Forum Change | Posted: 2008-06-02 10:28:05 |
So, with the release of phpBB3, I have had less (read as none) bots register on the forums. So, I took out the "Allowed to post" group and set registered users to be able to post. So, if you register, you don't have to worry about me not putting you in the allowed to post group anymore :P | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| New gaming rig specs... | Posted: 2008-05-29 20:22:07 |
So, while I had nothing to do today at work, I was playing around on Newegg.com. I realized how far behind I was in hardware research, so I spent most of the afternoon researching new hardware that's come out, how they compare to older models, etc. I then decided that I was going to price out my own gaming rig. I want to build another computer after I graduate in December, but were I to graduate and get a job today, this is probably the machine I would buy. Check it out and let me know what you think on the public wish list on Newegg.com (or post your comments about it here ;) ) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Spammers | Posted: 2008-05-28 06:07:34 |
Bah! I already have comment spammers coming around :( I think that, one of these nights, I'm going to make a register/login script, so don't be surprised if you can't comment until you register.
Other than that, I have started work, and it's going great O.o Other than that, not much is new. A friend and I are going to the local baseball team's season opener on Friday :D And that's about it... I'm a pretty boring person right now :P | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Thoughts... | Posted: 2008-05-26 15:26:14 |
So, this weekend I found something out that was really cool. I was talking to my mom while we were camping, and I told her that I really miss Johanna. Then, something happened that has never happened to me before (when it comes to girlfriends)... I started to tear up because I missed her so much (and I still do). I have never had that happen before, and it just went that much further to prove how much I love the girl and miss her.
Also, I find it funny that, in the last month, we have had three or four different people ask us when our wedding is going to be... We aren't even engaged yet! :P We are coming up on 2 years (July 5th), and yes, that is a long time, but she doesn't even have a ring from me yet! So, we had a laugh about that a little bit today. But, I do wanna marry her, I just don't have the money for a ring yet... After I graduate, though, that's ganna be a different story ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Relief! | Posted: 2008-05-23 08:50:31 |
Well, I had my shot on Wednesday, and between yesterday and today my back has gotten a lot better. I still can't sit for very long and stuff, but I can at least sleep through the night, and sleep on my side! It's so nice to be able to do that stuff. It may take a while yet for the full effect of the shot to kick in, so hopefully it gets better yet. I'm very excited and hopeful that my back will be better soon.
On an unrelated note, I have gotten my first spam post in my comments section already... There may be a login script coming sooner than I thought if it keeps happening. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| More fun tweaks | Posted: 2008-05-21 21:57:46 |
So, since I'm not quite tired yet, and I was laying in bed, not really wanting to watch TV, I decided I was going to work on my page submission in the administrative backend. It's now complete and functioning well ;) The news page is the default homepage, but I have the new submission working off of id's from a database, selecting the content and creator corresponding to the ID number. God, I love coding :D Does that make me a major geek? | Posted by: Fallen 2 Comments |
| Shots hurt... | Posted: 2008-05-21 17:21:08 |
I got my steroid epidural today and let me tell you, it wasn't the most fun thing I have ever done. It didn't hurt all that bad, but it did hurt. But, once it was done and I was getting ready to leave, I got really lightheaded and really hot very quickly. This provoked an extra 30 minutes at the doctors so they could monitor me. Once that 30 mins was up, I got to leave, but my back was sore as hell from the shot. By that time the anesthetic had kicked in, so my back didn't hurt too bad, just from the shot. Now, the anesthetic has worn off, and they said the steroids won't kick in for at least a day or two. I just have this little tidbit of information for you all: don't fuck up your back. It sucks :P | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Modification | Posted: 2008-05-21 07:54:07 |
So, with waking up early I had more time to waste before I left for my appointment for my shot today, so.... I decided to make the Comments links show how many comments there are for a specific news post. It took less than half and hour... Damn I am good ;) Enjoy! I know I will ;) | Posted by: Fallen 2 Comments |
| New Feature | Posted: 2008-05-20 14:20:11 |
So, since I am not going to work this week, and I am bored at home I decided to play around with the system a bit. I have now added the ability to comment on news posts that I have made. Obviously you don't have to register, since there is no registration (yet), but you can enter in your name to "claim" your comment. I have also added some new functionality in the administrative backend, including editing the nav file and the ability to manage the comments on the site. So, feel free to check out the new comment feature and comment on some stuff ;)
More updates will come through the week, I'm sure. I will be laid up tomorrow after my shot I'm sure, so I will probably work on some other stuff then. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| I'm back again :D | Posted: 2008-05-19 22:56:44 |
So, according to Snowkissed, I need to blog more :P Now that I am done with the semester, I think I might be able to do that. This semester started off good, but turned into the semester from hell. Not even half way though I started having my back issues. Well, I had an MRI a few weeks ago, and my results were not so good... Besides the herniated disk, it was also torn. Not only that, but I have a stress fracture in one of my vertebra and I have moderate to severe arthritis in my lower back. Just dandy :(
Then, on May 5th, Johanna and my 22 month anniversary, my Grandpa died. It was a long time coming, he had been fading for the last year, but it was still very hard. He is the first grandparent I have lost, and he was the closest grandparent I had, making it that much harder. This was also the week before finals, and I wasn't going to miss his funeral just because of some damn tests. So, I missed almost all of the last week of classes to be home with the family and say good bye to one of the greatest men I have ever known.
Even with all of that, I somehow managed to pull off a 3.64 GPA, acing my Senior Capstone class for the WDMD major. I had an A- in Professional IT Communication (how I did that, I have no idea), an A in Ice Skating (woot! And don't laugh, I needed a filler class, and that one was damn easy!), and a B in my Myths of Creation class, which surprised me because I thought I bombed the final (I ended up getting an 84 on it, though).
Other than that, things haven't been too bad around here. I have the steroid epidural for my back on Wednesday, hoping that will help take down the swelling of the disk and alleviate some of the pain. The doctor said it may take more than one shot, but I don't care as long as the pain friggen goes away. I will start work next week for sure, and that will begin the long process of working through the summer :P Then, one more semester of college, then out into the real world... I'm anxious and scared at the same time, but we will see what the future brings, one day at a time. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Owie | Posted: 2008-04-16 13:56:33 |
So, last night was a fun one... I spent about 3.5-ish hours in the ER for my back. It turns out that I have a herniated disk, and by rolling over in bed I topped off the back injury last night. So Johanna ran me up to Wausau where we met my mom and went to the ER. Great times... I have Vicadin for the pain and Prednizone for the swelling. MRI is scheduled for next Wednesday, just to make sure that there isn't anything else going on with the disk. Wish me luck! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Long time no update! | Posted: 2008-04-14 08:06:44 |
So, I figured since it's been almost 2 months I would post on here again :P I've been extremely busy, with my Mondays usually adding even more meetings to the rest of the week... So, here is just a quick update as to how things are going.
Johanna and I are doing great. We just passed our 21 month Anniversary, so we are coming up on that 2 year mark. I'm very excited, because it is the longest that either of us have been in a relationship that long, and things are still looking very strong. School is going OK, though I wish the semester were over. I just want to finish with my Writing Emphasis class... We have a 10 page paper due tomorrow, and it is written, but it was a pain in the butt to research and write. Not to mention the Professor isn't at all the nicest guy out there...
Other than that, things are pretty good. I hurt my back a few weeks ago and went to the doctor on campus on Friday, who said I should look at getting an MRI because of my prior neck problems... I'm so looking forward to that :( Oh well... It has been keeping me up at night and preventing me from sleeping well, so I just want to get the thing checked out and fixed. And that's about it for the short wrap up of my life the last 2 months... If you wanna know more, shoot me an email or catch me on AIM or MSN. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Now is the time... | Posted: 2008-02-10 14:30:35 |
OK, so I don't quite know what the title has to do with this post, but it sounded cool :P Anyway, things are going great here. Thursday started the College Bowling League, and we had a gooooooood Thursday night :P My scores went 173, 185, 97. Alcohol was definitely a factor in the third game :P Then we went out and sang some karaoke until bar close. 'Twas a good time ;)
Classes are going good... A lot of reading and stuff, but still going pretty good. Johanna went home this weekend, so I was alone :P My friends came down, though, and we went out last night and had a good time. Other than that, there really isn't anything new. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Life goes on... | Posted: 2008-02-04 10:58:08 |
We are now entering the third week of classes for the semester, and it feels like so much longer... My neighbors are quite annoying, and they don't seem to respect my authority... Maybe I should write them up and that might help :P But, other than some childish neighbors, everything seems to be working out pretty well.
Johanna and I are going great! We are coming up on 19 months of dating and still going very strong. I love her to death :D Yea, we have our differences, the occasional misunderstanding that may get blown out of proportion, but it always ends up being OK. For Valentine's Day, we decided to get each other a movie we want and then we would watch them together. It should be a good time.
Other than that, the new sister site, Star Trek on Fallenscribe is going good. I sent an email out to TrekMovie.com last night, offering my services if they so wish, either as some sort of content sleuth, web programmer, or just general help. I figured it is worth a shot at least ;) But, I think that is all for now. I will be back in a couple of days to update you all on what is happening in this neck of the woods. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Sister Site up! | Posted: 2008-01-30 19:04:09 |
So, I have been wanting to do this for a while, so tonight I quick threw Joomla! on a subdomain of this site to make a quick and easy news site for Star Trek. Star Trek on Fallenscribe has been born! All you Trekkies/Trekkers feel free to check it out! There are also forums up specifically for the site in my forums. Again, feel free to stop in and check them out and discuss ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| One down, 15 to go | Posted: 2008-01-29 08:18:12 |
So, the first week of classes are over (we didn't have class last Monday), and I can't say I'm sad to see them go. I did get the WDMD 480 project I wanted, though; I will be working on the Portage County Humane Society website, as well as the Portage County Association of Volunteer Administrators. We have our first meetings with our clients tomorrow morning, so it should be pretty interesting.
Other than that, I have a lot of reading and writing this semester that I will have to do, but it's not too big of a deal. I will survive either way :P I'm just looking at it like this: it is my second to last semester, and I have 12 credits... It really couldn't be any easier. But, even though the semester has only just begun, I can't wait to get it over with ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| And so it begins... | Posted: 2008-01-22 06:33:07 |
Today is the first day of classes... I have my first class in 30 minutes. It's Ice Skating, so it shouldn't be too hard, but it is still a class at 8 am :P Then, I have class until 1, and I am done with classes for the day. Woohoo!
Move-in's went well yesterday and Sunday. Less than 12 people are MIA, which is nice :P But, I spent a lot of the day with Johanna, watching a movie... Ok, she watched a movie and I fell asleep for several chunks of it. Oh well :P But anywho, I need to get ready for class, because it is at the Ice Arena, which I have to drive to. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| So it begins again... | Posted: 2008-01-14 14:25:05 |
Tomorrow begins a new semester for me... I have to go back to Point to start training for the semester. I kinda wanna start the semester, and I kinda don't. I want to because it is my second to last semester and because I can see everyone again (especially Johanna!), but I don't because I just don't wanna go to class :P
But, either way, I will go back, and the semester will start, whether I like it or not. But it will probably fly by, so I guess it's OK. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Work Sucks | Posted: 2008-01-09 09:02:48 |
So, I'm sitting here at work, bored as hell, waiting for a computer to run through Winblows updates. Fun times... So I posted on Snowkissed's Website and forums, played around on Facebook, and decided to post some news on my own site :P
I found out yesterday that Johanna has a girl that is interested in her O.o One of her friends from High School wrote on her MySpace that they had a friend (a female friend) who thought she was hot and wanted to chat on MSN. It says on her MySpace that she is In a Relationship and that she is Straight... Why can people not read?
Also, I have made a few decisions for myself: 1) I will be working out and losing weight this year. I want to lose at least 20 lbs, looking to lose more like 40 before the year is over. 2) I will graduate in December of this year, and I will not be applying for South Hall Manager at Point. I would rather get out and get a real job in something that I want to do instead of doing something that other people think I would be good at/for. 3) I will finish my CMS before the year is over. I am hoping to have it done more before the summer, so that I can use it for friends whose website I am making. I think they need it by April, so hopefully I can burn through it before then.
That's all for my bored state now :P | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| I'm back! | Posted: 2008-01-06 20:46:55 |
And so I have returned home from Johanna's. I love her so much, it's unbelievable! She is amazing, and I love spending time with her whenever I can. I also got to spend time with her family, which I haven't seen since early October, so that was a lot of fun.
I am working tomorrow and hopefully the rest of the week, hanging out with Tiff and Craig a few nights, and just kinda chillaxing until the 15th, when I go back to Point to start the new semester. I have made a resolution for this year: lose 20+ lbs and get into better shape. So far Johanna's mom didn't help that, because she made us a huge meal before I left today, but I will be getting on that and I hope to lose at least 20 lbs, if not more.
Anywho, I'm good for now. That's the update ;) Have a fun rest of your winter break!! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |

| Happy Holidays! | Posted: 2007-12-30 18:08:03 |
Hey Everyone! I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holidays! I'm not sure who celebrates holidays and what ones they celebrate, but for those that do, may you have the best holiday ever!
As for mine, I had a good Christmas. I went down to Indiana to visit my Dad, Step-mom, and 2 sisters. It was a good time, we had lots of fun and there was never a shortage of interesting moments. All in all, it was pretty good. Tomorrow, for New Years Eve, I will be playing hockey with some friends, then hanging out with some other friends that I haven't spent time with in a while, so it should be a good time.
I can't wait until Wednesday; I get to go up and visit Johanna. I can't wait to see her and visit with her family. I love her and I miss her lots, so it's going to be a good time. Anywho, I think that's enough for now ;) Again, have a safe and Happy Holidays everyone!!! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Yea, I know... | Posted: 2007-12-16 20:07:31 |
So I haven't kept up with this again... But there is a good reason: this semester has kept me really busy. I even forgot about my little sisters' (yes, both of them) birthdays! That's how bad of a semester this has been. But, thankfully, it is almost over.
I have a final tomorrow for my Systems Analysis and Design class at 12:30pm, then my next final isn't until Thursday at 10:15am, but I have a project due on Wed. by 10 am and Thurs. by 10 am. One is ASP.Net 2.0, which is almost done, and the other is for Digital Photography. I can't wait to get these projects done and out of my hair. That means that the semester is truly almost over for me. I have 3 finals, 1 of which isn't cumulative, and 3 final projects, 1 of which is handed in, 1 is almost done, and 1 is about half done. So, not too bad.
I just wanna get out of here (Point). I'm ready to go on vacation for a month :P I head down to Indiana for about a week on Dec 22, then I come back and stay home for a few days, head up to Johanna's house, then possibly some work for a week, then I head back to Point on the 15th of January for the start of my last year in college. I have 2 semesters after this one is over, and I can't wait!
Anywho, thing's are going pretty good otherwise... Things are winding down; not really worrying about too much other than finals. Johanna and I are doing great, and I can't really complain too much about anything else... So, I'm off for now, off to study for my final tomorrow... OK, so I probably won't study, but I am still going :P Hopefully I will post more frequently from now on ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Woops! | Posted: 2007-11-09 22:20:38 |
Yea, yea yea... It's been a month and then some since I last posted... Sorry :P Anywho, things are going pretty good here, just really friggen busy. I just got done working on an ASP.Net 2.0 project for the night (after about 2 hours) and I still have a long way to go on it...
After that, I have to do some homework for Systems Analysis and Design, then for my Digital Photography class... Nothing too big, but nothing really small either : / Oh well, I shall live :P Speaking of living--My Grandpa went into the hospital about 2 weeks ago with major heart problems, not expecting to live out the night. He is now recovering in a nursing home, and he just turned 84 last Sunday! He is doing a lot better, as he is getting the constant care and watch that he needs... He's a stubborn old German ;)
Other than that, things are going pretty well... Johanna is fine, maybe a little stressed, but doing fine :P I'm alive, and that is all that counts ;) I've got a touch of insomnia right now and cant sleep all that well at night, but again, Im alive and that's all that counts.
Im also excited because I get to register for classes Tuesday afternoon, and it is my 2nd to last semester! Woohoo!!! I'm almost out of college; I can't believe it! It's a bittersweet feeling right now, but I honestly just want to get out. But, to bide my time, I bought a new computer game :D Hellgate:London is absolutely awesome! If you don't have it, and you played Diablo 2, Guild Wars, WoW, or anything that was hack and slash or FPS (yes, this game has both) you need to try it out!!
Anyway, I have written enough :P I will post back later, and hopefully not a month from now, but Im not promising anything ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Hey Hey Hey! | Posted: 2007-10-08 18:28:36 |
How are y'all? I'm doing pretty good... I got to shoot a lot of clay pigeons this weekend with my new shotgun. It was so friggen fun! Anywho... The weekend was good; we went to Johanna's house for her hometown's homecoming and because her brother was home from college for the first time. It was good to see her family and good to fully get away from Point for a weekend.
The next few weeks are ganna suck, though... My classes are starting to pick up, unfortunately. I will survive, but it's just annoying that they all pick up at the same time... Gatta love college :( Anywho, I'm off for now. Just thought I would give a little update for you all ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Sweet! | Posted: 2007-09-29 22:28:21 |
So, today marks a first for me... Today I went to Gander Mt. (local outdoorsman store) and bought myself a shotgun :D It is the first gun that I have actually bought for myself, and I'm pretty happy about it. It was $300, but it was well worth it, because I will probably have it for years to come. It is a Remington 870 Express pump action 12 gauge, synthetic black stock. Super sweet!
The reason I bought it is because friends and I want to go small game hunting here around school, and then I have a gun that I can use, and I don't have to rely on someone else. Not only that, but then I can also use it for deer hunting (it came with a slug barrel), duck/goose hunting, and trap shooting. The uses for a 12 gauge are quite common. So, I'm pretty happy that I got a rather decent gun for only $300
Other than that, things have been going well... School is school... That's all I have to say about that... I spent the weekend in Johanna's room (since it is only Saturday, I will be spending the rest of it there :P ), and we had a lot of fun watching movies while she was working desk, watching movies while we were in her room between duty rounds, etc. I love her and hanging out with her :D Such a great time! Anywho, she is due back from rounds real quick, so I gatta go! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Yo! | Posted: 2007-09-24 19:10:18 |
Hey All! So, just thought I would give my masses of followers (OK, the 5 of you who actually read this :P) a little update. Things have been going good in classes so far. I just turned in my Photography assignment, which was really easy. Take 12 photos of 1 object, getting incrementally closer, until your camera couldn't focus on the object, then make a pdf slideshow of them. Pretty easy. Other than that, the other classes I have are going good... Really easy, but boring so far... Soon I should be getting into the new stuff in the other classes too, which I can't wait for
Other than that, things are still going great for me and Johanna :D I love the girl to death. I can't say that enough... I really can't. I'm sure you all don't really wanna hear to much about that, so here is a topic change. The hall has been running smoothly... No big hitches or problems... Which is good, considering the HD has been out of town all weekend, and won't be back til tomorrow night. But, that's enough updating for now. I will write later. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Update | Posted: 2007-09-17 20:07:43 |
Hey all! Sorry it has been so long since the last post, but I have been a bit busy lately. Classes have started, and the semester seems to be going pretty OK so far. The classes are OK... Some I like, some are boring right now but will pick up, and there is one I really don't like. But, maybe things will pick up in that department... I hope.
So, as far as other things, I went home this last weekend for the first time in about a month. It was nice to see my family, and Tiff and Craig were home, so we went out to eat and then they came to Point to visit with Johanna and some of our other friends. Overall, it was a pretty nice weekend. Should be an interesting week this week... Hockey started yesterday too, so that was fun. We got our asses kicked, but it was still fun. Good times, good times...
Other than that, things have been going great with Johanna, and around the halls as well. I'm having fun this year, and I'm looking forward to next semester... 12 credits for the next 2 semester should be pretty nice... Anywho, I'm off for now... | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| I survived!! | Posted: 2007-09-04 07:32:12 |
So, today marks the start of the semester (first day of classes). Yesterday everyone finished checking in to the hall at about 6:30 PM, which was nice. I don't have to worry about stragglers, wondering where people are or when they will show up, etc. All in all, it wasn't a bad weekend as move-ins go.
But, I survived... A little bit worse for the wear, but I survived... Now, on to the classes! It should be a pretty decent semester... I hope I will do OK, but I don't think I will have much of a problem. Anywho, I have to head off... | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| The day is at hand! | Posted: 2007-08-31 19:26:44 |
Finally, move-ins start tomorrow. I can't friggen wait to get them over with. Don't get me wrong, training was fun, but I just wanna get back into the swing of things. The last couple days have been long and stressful, but I made it through
So, the day is (almost) finally here, and I am so ready for it. The next 3 days people will be moving into the hall, and then after that, classes start and the normal routine kicks in. I should be able to post more after than then, too. Look for more updates later ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Training | Posted: 2007-08-25 13:56:41 |
Sorry I haven't written in a while, but I have been busy with training all this week so far. We (as residence hall staff) have to come back 2 weeks (or a week and a half, depending on the position) early to get trained in running the hall and working well as a staff. So, I have been in training or preparing the hall all this week.
I got to see Johanna for the first time in over 2 weeks on Thursday, and that was nice. We had a fun time just catching up and talking and cuddling and stuff. The summer was fun, but after a while phone conversations just 1) aren't what they need to be and 2) get old. I like to have someone in front of me to talk to, so it was nice to see her again. And now, we get to spend the rest of the semester together, yay!
Anyway, just thought I would write a little update, to let you know I didn't die... I should be around more in about a week and a half... After training and move-ins are done ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Back at school! | Posted: 2007-08-20 15:10:23 |
| Im back at school now, all moved in, ready to go! All my stuff is in my room, my stuff is all hooked up, room is organized, and Im all set :D I have dinner with my Hall Director in about 50 minutes, then a meeting at 9:15... Then the rest is all down hill ;) Ahhhh, so nice to be back!! I won't be around a whole lot the next few days, so if you need me, leave a message on the forums or email me ;) | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Bittersweet Goodbye | Posted: 2007-08-18 11:12:06 |
Yesterday was my last day of work, and it was a bittersweet day. Sweet because I wanted to get the hell out and go back to school, and bitter because I love working there, and working with my boss. But, it's over, done, and I go back to college on monday.
So, today I am packing after a long night of fun last night. It was a friends birthday, so we went out and celebrated with her. Those who drank were drunk by about 8 pm last night, and we kept drinking until about midnight. It was definitely a fun night, and I would love to do it again with that group of people. They are all great, and very nice people, and laid back.
So, here's to packing for college... I will be doing it the next two days, and then Monday I will be heading back at 8:15, so I can make it by 9 AM. I'm looking forward to going back so bad, and Im extremely anxious to leave. Again, another bittersweet moment... | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Vista... | Posted: 2007-08-15 11:07:54 |
I'm not ganna beat around the bush here... I hate Windows Vista. But the thing that I hate more then Vista is the fact that almost everything is shipping with it nowadays, and you can't find XP drivers for computers on manufacturer websites. I have spent the last 2.5 days trying to get drivers for my sisters new laptop that I reformated and put XP on.
I wanted XP on it, so that it would be easier for me to troubleshoot when I am at college, and easier for her because she is used to it. Well, I finally have everything working but the Audio, and I come to find out that they didnt even make an XP driver for that laptop's audio! There are a few that come close, and with a little finesse might work, so that is what Im going to try, but honestly... Windows XP took years to control the market, and Vista seems to have done it in a couple months. And people are starting to not make drivers for XP anymore... Great.
I was really hoping that Vista, being the resource hog that it is, would fail miserably. Apparently, I was mistaken (so far, at least). I just hope that it becomes easier to manage and network and stuff. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! /end rant | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |

| Poll fix | Posted: 2007-08-13 14:57:41 |
| Thanks to one of my friends *cough*Kari*cough*, I had the ambition and means to make it so that polls can't be skewed. Hitting refresh (or back if you navigate away from the main page) will no longer keep upping the count on the option you picked. I think it is fixed pretty well now ;) I didn't think that people would do that, but I guess Kari showed me that people are amused by small things sometimes ;) Thanks Kari :P | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| A little admin update | Posted: 2007-08-12 13:06:34 |
Well, I was a bit bored this afternoon, so I decided to work on the Administration a little bit. I ended up adding user levels, so that certain users can only do certain things. I also made a few modifications to the news adding part, so that you don't have to type in a user name when you submit news, it automatically does it for ya.
I know this doesn't mean a lot to you all, but for me, it's a pretty good accomplishment. I hope to one day develop this enough to distribute this as a news and poll manager, since it wont be a full CMS (at least any time soon), and it will give users who want to do easy news and polls a utility to do so in one. It wont add pages or do anything like that, just news and polls, but it is still a pretty cool tool for even the advanced HTML/CSS coders who dont know a lot about PHP or who want to make their lives easier. I also see that only one other person has voted on the poll. Please vote on it and let me know what you think!
Also, if anyone knows how to do a script to parse MySQL stuff into an RSS feed, please email me and let me know where to look or how to do it! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Good weekend | Posted: 2007-08-12 09:16:25 |
Well, this was a good weekend. Yea, it's only Sunday morning, but it has still been a good weekend. Friday I was over at a friends house, just drinking some beer and relaxing and cooking some burgers, having a good old time. Once it got darker, we went to a local bar and met my friends parents, and then another came up from Madison and met us at the bar. It was a great time, not trying to drink to get drunk, but just drinking to have fun with friends. I love those kinds of nights
Yesterday was a nice, relaxing day, not doing a whole lot, then we went to another friends house for a fire and small gathering. We ended up getting rained out, and we went to his basement and played Wii sports until 1:45 in the morning. It was just a great time to spend with friends that I hadnt seen in a long time. It was a great time, with good friends, good food, and good alcohol :D | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Everything is here! | Posted: 2007-08-09 21:44:04 |
Tonight I was a bit bored, so I decided to do some stuff, and I added the About Me page and the Links page (the Poetry page already links to my Poetry forum). They aren't very long yet, but I will add to them as we go along. I have also made some more modifications to the administration, so that I can easily modify and delete polls. Not too bad for about an hour's worth of work (I had most of it done from the news modifying/deleting script I already use), and I have some plans for later. I'm going to add user levels, so that certain people can do only certain things.
Like I said, I eventually want to spruce this thing up a bit and possibly distribute it as a basic CMS for those who want to control their pages themselves, just want something easy for news and polls. Should be pretty interesting to see if people would use it. Vote on the poll and let me know what you think! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Summer of New stuff | Posted: 2007-08-09 18:45:12 |
The summer is almost at an end (I move back to school on the 20th), and I must say, it has been an interesting one. I got have a lot of new things. To start it off, I have a new longest relationship. August 5 was a year and a month for Johanna and I. The longest relationship I had before that was 1 year and 1 week, which shouldn't have gone longer than 6 months, but that is another story.
Anyway... I also got a new 80 gig video iPod a couple weeks ago, for helping teach a grad class for teachers. All I can say about that is it is friggen sweet! I have about 20 movies or so on it, and it is awesome! I have been using it for the last couple days while I move computers in the entire school... Which sucks, by the way!
The last thing I got is a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I got it for a class that I am taking this semester, Digital Photography and Photoshop (CS3, woot!). The prof. sent a letter out the other day, saying that we need a camera that can do all of this stuff, so I decided that it was time to buy a camera that I was putting off for about 3 years. It came today, and I am super excited about it! I have been playing with it for the last few hours :D
So, that has been my summer of fun stuff so far. The camera set be mack a pretty penny (and the 4-gig card I bought for it as well), but I dont think I will have to buy anything for a while now. Too bad summer is ending, I could almost see getting more good stuff :D | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Long day | Posted: 2007-08-06 20:47:31 |
| So, today I had to work at Marathon, trying to get the Elementary school computers all done before 3 pm. It wasn't too bad, but we had a late arrival, which gave us a late start, and then one of the others wouldn't listen to me. But, somehow, I managed to make it through the day without killing anyone (though it was close) and the Elementary is pretty much done, just a few little housekeeping things to take care of.
Add to that, the fact that Johanna left this afternoon, and we got our butts kicked in volleyball tonight, and it has been a long day. Slight change of topic, but I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow for my back. I found a numb spot on my back last Tuesday, and it was sending pains out from all around it. Lately it hasnt been hurting too much, unless it rubs on something when I sit down. Lately, it just itches really bad.
But, other than that, tomorrow I will be working back at my "home base" doing my actual job for the first time in about a month. It will be nice, but hectic, because I am moving computers from room to room and imaging them. It will be a pain, but it is one of the last things that we have to do to get ready for the school year. And I only have 2 weeks of work left, before I have to return to college for training.
That is my day, and a little preview on tomorrow. I will keep ya'll updated on what happens tomorrow with the spot on my back. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Just an FYI | Posted: 2007-08-06 06:38:36 |
| Just to let you all know, those of you who were registered on my forums before, and those who will register from this point on, will be put into an "Allowed to Post" group, so that you can (coincidentally) post on the forums. I have had a problem with spammers for the last... forever, so I decided to do things a bit different. Thanks to snowkissed for the idea ;)

| My day | Posted: 2007-08-04 20:36:46 |
| On Thursday, my Dad and Step-mom (and my 2 little sisters) came up for a family reunion, which we had today. So, I went out to where they were staying Thursday night and had a couple beers and just talked with them, then last night Johanna came down, and we went to a cookout with all of my family on that side and had a good time.
Today we had to head about 60 miles north to go to the family reunion. The day started by me looking at my clock and thinking that it was awfully bright for 1:30 AM, only to realize that my clock had taken a power surge and been knocked out, so we ended up being a little late for the departure rondezvous. I ended up driving my dad's huge truck, in case they had too many drinks :P Anyway, Johanna and I knew just about as many people there, because I was way too young to remember anyone from that time. But we had fun... We played some games and threw a ball around, and had an all around good time. I still don't really know anyone on that side of the family :P
So, all in all, it was a good day. Tomorrow we will be having brunch as a big group one last time before everyone goes their separate ways again, then we (Johanna and I, possibly some others) will be heading to a Wisconsin Woodchucks game (baseball) with my sister and her BF, then who knows what... Only tomorrow will tell :D | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Small Update | Posted: 2007-08-03 07:17:11 |
| So, here I am, sitting at work and waiting for Windows Updates to run, so I thought I would post a little something.
I just can't believe that I finally launched my site. It has been about a year in planning, and about 6 months in coding. I don't have a lot of time to code stuff, so I had to do it in spurts, and then the last month or so I have just wanted to code the website and get it done. Obviously it isn't all done, as some of the pages aren't up yet, but those will be coming in the next couple weeks.
I'm just happy I got my site up and working, and it was all done by hand by me. I had to look up how to do a few things, but other than that, it was all me. The front page may not look like a lot, but to be honest, I'm more proud of the back-end than the front-end. Almost anyone can make a webpage nowadays, and make it better than mine. It's the back-end part of it that I am the most proud of.
I started out just wanting to make a basic Content Management System, so that I had a better understanding of how they worked and just to get more practice with PHP and MySQL. I ended up expanding it a bit more to add polls and allow users to vote on them. It has been an awesome challenge and great experience. And now that I feel that the site is actually "mine," I will be posting a lot more news updates and stuff.
Anyway, it's time to get back to work (unfortunately). I will be back around to make more news posts later. | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
| Welcome! | Posted: 2007-08-02 21:17:35 |
| Welcome one and all to my new website layout! I will probably be updating the site more frequently now, as this one has more of a feel of being mine. I have redone everything, and coded everything myself, including the admin interface for news and polls.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them in my forums and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Feel free to vote on the poll, too! Give me as much feedback as possible! Please be aware that this site is a work in progress, so some pages may not be up right away. Give me a few days/weeks, and everything should be up... For the most part ;)
Thanks and enjoy the site!!! | Posted by: Fallen Add a comment |
